Influence of thermal treatment duration on structure and phase composition of additive Co-Cr-Mo alloy samples

Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) requires application of powders with specific characteristics. These are near-spherical shape particles, uniform elemental composition, typical particle size 5 – 70 µm, etc. Such produced by spheroidization methods. They have such disadvantages as high cost and sale only in large quantities. There publications describing LPBF powders, the methods, alternative to spheroidization. In current study, pure raw Co, Cr Mo were used for production Co-Cr-Mo mixture. Samples Co-28 wt.% Cr-6 alloy from this Due difference between melting temperatures Mo, inclusions formed within bulk samples. Studies phase structure microhardness as-produced samples after post-treatment varied duration represented. As-produced non-uniform composition represented main Co-based phase. Increasing annealing leads sequential dissolution un-melted inclusions. Complete particles was observed at 10 hours treatment complete not 20 annealing. Microhardness non-linearly changes increasing This is due transformations diffusion processes occurring type post-treatment. Mo-particles could be achieved further time or varying mode laser fusion.
